2016 Poker Hand Mini-Tournament Results

Thank you everyone who came out to play league on Monday, June 13, 2016, and took part in what is usually our second mini-tournament of the regular season.  (The first mini-tournament had to be cancelled due to rain.)

Congratulations to the three lucky winners of the 2016 Poker Hand Mini-Tournament, each with a 4-of-a-kind:

  • Sue Brochu
  • Linda Deane
  • Kris Dutchak

Prizes will be available for pick-up in the Pro Shop tomorrow, June 20, 2016.

Reminder to all new and returning members our next Two Ball Best Ball Mini-Tournament is scheduled for Monday, July 11, 2016.  Hope to see you then!

2016 Business Ladies League Update

First night of league (May 2) was super HOT weather and participation wise with well over 100 women and a smooth start to the season. Thank you all new and returning members for being a part of this league.

Week two was a little chilly for this fair-weather golfer😉 Behind the scenes, though, the Executive volunteers continue to pull things together for a great season and want to share these updates.

Membership: We still have 5 spots available for new and returning members. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please have them complete the registration form and return it with payment by cheque to Lin Linman, our registrar and Handicap Chair.

Short Game Lessons: All sign-up sheets have been handed over to our instructor and some of you already started with chipping lessons. Pitching lessons start this week. If you missed out on this opportunity and wish to express interest in private instruction or confirm/change your lesson times,  please contact Matteo directly through the Pro Shop.

Match Play and Marshall Cup:  There’s still time to sign up for these programs by end of league play tomorrow Monday, May 16th. Both require an established handicap. For more information on both, refer to the Player’s Manual.

You can participate in Match Play in singles or doubles format. Match play requires you to play approximately three, 18-hole matches throughout the season.

Marshall Cup is a one-day match play format tournament among city leagues that takes place on Sunday, June 12. Victoria Business Ladies League can send eight (8) players. The roster will be set by the end of May.

Sign up sheets are on the bulletin board in the clubhouse ladies locker room, or you can email Sharon Reedyk (sreedyk@shaw.ca) directly.

Ringerboard: So some of you keen golfers have already started to track your scores and skill to be eligible for Ringerboard recognition at the year-end banquet. Please download the Ringerboard Excel spreadsheet here and see the Player’s Manual for more detailed instructions and information.

Here’s to another great week on the fairways and greens!

Countdown: League Play starts in two weeks

Reminder, tonight is our season kick-off Meet-and-Greet Social starting at 5:30 pm at the Victoria Golf Course Clubhouse.

The Pro-Shop will be open for you to purchase multi-passes. Even though multi-passes are available anytime, Kevin, Mattie, and team strongly recommend not waiting until the first regular league night (May 2, 2016) to get your multi-pass. It’s generally very busy. You can avoid line-ups and get one tonight or drop by the Pro-Shop (and driving range or putting practice green) any weekday or evening.

Throughout the season, visit the locker room and check the bulletin board for notices and sign-up sheets for lessons, match play, and tournaments.

Welcome New Members

On behalf of the Executive, I would like to welcome 40 new members into Victoria Business Ladies Golf League, or VBLGL for short.  As I’m sure you can imagine, I am looking forward to another fun and exciting golf season serving as your President.

Stacey Scott Nykolyshyn, Club Secretary, and I have had the pleasure of connecting with most of our new members by phone and/by email and invited you to subscribe to this website/blog.

Many of you have RSVP’d to attend our annual Orientation Night Meet-and-Greet Social tomorrow evening, Monday, April 18th, starting at 5.30 pm, in the social room upstairs at the Victoria Golf Course Club House.

We will be highlighting important information from the Player’s Manual and reminders regarding the league and golf etiquette and the Schedule of Play. You will also be able to purchase your multi-pass at the Pro-Shop and sign up for short game Lessons, Marshall Cup, and/or Match Play.

Thank you for everyone who participated in our EventBrite pilot. We are at full capacity and will have light snacks and refreshments for your enjoyment.

Please note that our first night of league play in Monday, May 2.

We hope you are enJOYing this beautiful Spring (golfing) weather and we’ll see you soon:)

Stephanie Eacott, President

Let’s get social. Meet-and-Greet on April 18.

Today, March 20th, is International Happiness Day and your Executive is happy to announce our first special event of the 2016 season.

Please join us on Monday, April 18th, starting at 5:30 pm, at the Victoria Golf Course Clubhouse for our annual Orientation Night Member Meet-and-Greet.

The evening will open with an orientation session at 5:30 pm followed by a meet-and-greet social hour at 6:30 pm. The orientation session is particularly geared toward new members, but returning members are welcome as well for a refresher.

All returning and new members are encouraged to attend. Sign-up sheets will be available for tournaments, match play and group short game lessons. The pro shop will be open for people to purchase multi-passes. Light refreshments will be served.

We look forward to seeing all our lovely ladies next month.

3-Week Countdown to 2016 Registration Deadline (March 15)

The sun was shining bright today and the snow melted… a lot!  I saw grass peaking through at Victoria Park Oval & Freezeway and imagine the Victoria Golf Course grounds keepers are getting excited and gearing up to opening day.

Tomorrow, your league Executive will be meeting to finalize plans and prepare for the 2016 season kick-off.

So this is a friendly reminder to returning members to get your registration forms in on or before the March 15th deadline.  There is still time for you to share the 2016 Registration Form and 2016 Schedule of Play with prospective members as well.

All new member applications will be put in a draw and advised as soon as possible of the status of their application, prior to the Member Orientation Meet & Greet on April 18th.
